Victim vs. Overcomer

It's sometimes really easy to forget we all suffer. Internally, we hear discouraging, negative words whispered by the demons who want us to remain miserable and we begin to feel isolated, as if no one understands.

We must remind ourselves that we aren't the only ones facing these mind battles. To overcome, it's crucial that we move forward in life without a victim mentality.

The dreams in our hearts were placed there by God. He's designed an amazing plan for our lives and wants us to see it through. Turning your dreams into your new reality won't always be easy; it will require us to put in the effort to battle through and press on towards the goal.

God wants us learn from our experiences and see the beauty in our trials. He wants us to grow in wisdom and become an encouragement to others. He wants us to be thankful for blessings in life.

When we look at it this way, it doesn't seem as bad, right?

It makes it a little easier at least.

I don't enjoy suffering, pain, discomfort, conflict, disagreement, chaos, or having people upset with me. It's necessary to have crucial conversations with others in order to move forward and make progress. When we bottle up our feelings, it begins to fester and we don't accomplish much good. We continue thinking about the things that made us angry or the spiteful words said against us. We replay our mistakes and beat ourselves up over it. Before we know it, we've created a ticking time bomb that eventually ends up exploding, making things so much worse.

The same is true in our journey to overcoming. The more we focus on the things we don't like about ourselves, the things we're doing wrong, and the things we wish we could change, the less likely we are to make progress... and the more likely we are to give up.

We're being victims, we're keeping ourselves stuck where we are, and we're keeping ourselves from our dreams.

When we change our mentality from a victim to an overcomer, we're much more likely to move closer to our dream!
